This page is dedicated to a little kitten found in a neighbor’s boat. The kitten is very young and was being fed birds and other ‘yummy’ things by his mother. When found my neighbor knew about my rescue/volunteer work and asked if I wanted him – I didn’t. They called the humane society and was advised that there are no leash laws for cats and that they couldn’t come pick him up. If wanted, my neighbor could turn him in at the office. Since they were going on a camping trip, they did not have time to do this and leaving the little critter in the boat was out of the question. Their dog, a beautiful Rottweiler boy, wanted desperately to play with the kitten, but due to his size that might have been catastrophic. So I did the only thing I could, I took him in. (I know, I KNOW – pushover – but after you see these pictures, you’ll know why.)
I called him the Lone Ranger even before I found out for sure he was a boy because he was seemingly all alone. With much hissing and snarling (from him, not me), I took the little guy in and put him in Draco’s crate (Draco did not mind that thought at all!). He is eating and drinking just fine, uses the litter box and several times a day I am picking him up and holding him. His first sound other than hissing the first day I brought him in the house – was a long mournful meow to inform me he was hungry. He knows his food dish and has decided if he sits in it and makes that wonderful noise, I might put something in it to eat. Since he is basically feral, he literally attacks the food, whether it is moving or not. He does seem to enjoy it a little more if I move the dish around while he is stalking it. So you see he is coming around just fine. And, as you can see from these pictures, he is allowing me to hold him and doesn’t seem to mind the dogs at all. Ranger even acts like he would like to play with the dogs, even Niki who must seem monstrously huge to such a little kitty.
Needless to say, Ranger will now be a part of the family – even Muffin the 22 year old cat seems interested in this little grey puff ball with the white blaze and grey goatee. I think he will fit in just fine. After a few more days of acclimating, I will let him start exploring the house, making sure that the dogs don’t step on him.
More updates to follow…………………….

Could you ignore that little face? |
Hanging in there – Ranger seems to be wondering why it is that this big pink thing is insistent on holding him. |

Niki inspects this arrival, the whole time her tail was womping the heck out of the crate. I think she likes him, now it’s time to play…… |
Draco wants to know what it is and why is Dad paying so much attention to it. Doesn’t seem like much, so put it down and let’s play with it! |
